The "Startup" section: parameters, version and Java
What you can change in "Startup" (name, password, slots, version, Java image) and what you'd better leave alone.
What you can configure here
The "Startup" section holds the parameters the server starts with: name, password, number of slots, map, game version, auto-update. A changed value is saved immediately and applied on the next start.
Docker image (Java version and environment)
At the bottom of the section you choose the Docker Image. For Minecraft this is the Java version:
| Minecraft | Java |
|---|---|
| 1.12.2 – 1.16.5 | Java 8 (11 works for 1.16.5) |
| 1.17 – 1.20.4 | Java 17 |
| 1.20.5 – 1.21.x | Java 21 |
| 26.x | Java 25 |
An UnsupportedClassVersionError in the console almost always means the wrong Java is selected.
Auto-update (Steam games)
The Auto Update = 1 parameter makes the server check for game updates on every start. Keep it on: Steam updates the game for players automatically, and if the server stays on the old version, players won't be able to join. Turn it off only if you deliberately keep an old version (and then players must have the same one).
What you'd better not touch
- The startup line (Startup Command), which is maintained by the panel. If you need a special parameter, contact support.
- Ports: they are assigned to your server and forwarded. Someone else's port won't work.
