Valheim: world, seed, modifiers and uploading your own world

Where the world is stored, how to find the seed, change the difficulty, create a new world or upload your own.

Where the world is stored

.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local/: a folder named after the world (the World parameter in "Startup"). Inside are the _main.*.fwl2 and _main.*.db2 files and chunks. Next to it are the automatic copies WorldName_backup_auto-….

Seed

The seed (10 characters) is stored in the .fwl2/.fwl file right after the world name. It's easier to ask support: we will tell you in a minute.

World modifiers (difficulty, raids, death)

Go to "Mods and settings" → world settings: combat difficulty, resources, raids, death penalty, portals. Save and restart the server.

A new world

Change World in "Startup" to a new name and restart: a new world is created and the old one stays where it is. To go back, set the old name again.

Uploading your own world (from single player)

  1. On your computer: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local\, the files WorldName.fwl and WorldName.db.
  2. Stop the server and upload both files to .config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local/ through "Files" or SFTP.
  3. In "Startup", set World = WorldName (without the extension).
  4. Start the server.
